THE DANCERS
MARIANELA VARGAS and OSCAR CORDOBA
Marianela and Oscar have worked together and collaborated in many dance projects for several years. They are among the best known dancers and teachers in the country and we are pleased to have them with us participating in this project! Both have obtained their degrees in Dance and Performance. Marianela is a professor at the Dance School, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica where she currently teaches the new generation of Costa Rican dancers. She has received awards as the best national performer in 1998 and 2002 and as a member of the best dance troupe in the country- “Compañia Camara Danza Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica” in 2000. Her schedule is pretty busy these days since besides being a dancer and a teacher she recently became a mother!
Oscar not only has worked and collaborated with Marianela but he is also currently the Director of the Dance School at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica where he previously served as the Sub-Director. Much as Marianela, he has been awarded numerous national awards as a member of the “Compañia Camara Danza Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica” in 1996 and 2000.
Both Marianela and Oscar have been members of the dance company “Compañia Danzados” since 2005.
